June 2006 Newsletter
  Home
Hello Friends,

This year seems to be busier than usual.  I can’t believe that 3 months have passed since my last newsletter.  It is a
lovely day – spring is turning to summer here.  There is a graceful doe (mule deer) munching grass outside my office window
and the promise of heat later today is in the air.  We are in the season of afternoon thunderstorms – not much rain, lots of dark
clouds and wind.  It is going to be a hot, dry summer “they” say.  I hope that you have time to enjoy your summer – I am going to
find some time so I can too.                                                                   Happy Solstice!

RAZZ Update

I want to say thank you to everyone who donated to the x-ray fund for Razz.  Razz came into our horse rescue
(www.knickotimehorserescue.org) a few months ago from the slaughter yard.  She was very, very sweet and kind, although
very lame.  We had several adoptive homes interested in her, but they wanted to know what was causing her lameness.  So, I
put a donation jar in my massage room to raise funds for x-rays and was amazed at the generosity of my clients.  Sadly, the
x-rays show that she has advanced navicular, a deteriorating condition in a bone in the hoof.

Gladly, once we had the diagnosis and recommended treatment, which includes a long period of no work, she was
able to be adopted.  She is now munching grass on a ranch in Wyoming.  If the navicular bone heals, she will be a family riding
horse on easy, flat trails.  If it doesn’t, she will continue to be a pasture companion for their other horses.  Thanks to everyone
for putting dollars (and fives and tens) in the jar and especially to Sharon and Mark and to Carlene for their generosity!  I just
love happy endings!

Essential Oil Tip for June

I have been hiking in the foothills near my house as often as I can this Spring.  Since it got hot so early here, I found that
my walks were a bit warmer than I was expecting.  So, I started putting a drop of
Peppermint essential oil in my water bottle.
Peppermint is so cooling!  It helped keep me going at a normal, rather than sluggish, pace.  And it tastes good too!

June’s Oil Blend – Purification

Purification is a blend of oils created to help purify and cleanse the air, neutralize mildew, cigarette smoke, and other
odors, repel insects, bugs, and mice, and can neutralize poison from insect bites.  It contains the essential oils of:  Citronella,
Lemongrass, Rosemary, Melaleuca, Lavandin, and Myrtle.

Many times I have put a drop on insect bites to help draw out the poison.  I do this repeatedly until the stinging and
swelling lessens.  Might take one drop, might take several over a period of hours.    I also keep a glass spray bottle of
Purification and distilled water to use when a spray is more convenient.  I use about 10 drops in 4 ounces of water – however
the amount can be adjusted depending on the use.

Purification can be diffused to purify the air.  I put several drops on cotton balls or pads and put it in my car to
neutralize odors.  I have used it to keep mice out of my daughter’s house (she lives on a farm) by placing
Purification-soaked
cotton balls in cupboards and closets.  It disappoints Rajah, her huntress-cat, but I like living mice-free!

According to my reference books, Lemon essential oil can be added to the
Purification to increase its effectiveness.
One reference book suggests making a spray of 5 drops of Purification and 5 drops of Lemon oil in 2 ounces of distilled water
to help repel wasps and other insects.  A friend told me she uses
Purification spray to repel Miller’s moths as well.

Purification (15 ml) $14.25 wholesale/$18.75 retail
