            It is a cool, windy Halloween evening here in Boulder.  At least no snow or rain is predicted!  It is amazing to me how
much time has passed since I last wrote a newsletter.  The summer has flown by and autumn is swiftly turning into winter.  The days seem so short now, with darkness beginning so very early!  The trees are full of their reds, yellows, and oranges.  Every time the season changes, I revel in the beauty that surrounds me.  And it is beautiful here now.               May your harvest be bountiful.  May you have all you need to see you through the long nights and cold days.  Happy Halloween, Samhain Beannacts, Peace and Joy to you this All Hallows Eve and All Saints Eve!  And I hope you get lots of really good candy and have some fun!                                                                                                    Nancy   Announcement

            I have been very involved in the creation of a new non-profit, the Knick O’Time Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation.  My daughter, Stephanie, and I are working very hard to rescue unwanted, neglected, and abused horses, bring them back to health, and find good adoptive homes for them.  Stephanie has been doing this for years, paying all the costs out of her own pocket.  Now that we have 501(c)3 status from the IRS, we can accept tax deductible donations to help us do this work.  So far this year, we have rescued over 15 horses and placed most of them in adoptive homes.  We do have several for adoption now, as well as several who are still in rehab.  Please visit our website to see more about KOTHRR and the horses that we have been working with.  (www.knickotimehorserescue.org)               We do have an end-of-year fundraiser going on now.  The KOTHRR 2006 Calendar features many of our beautiful horses, most of which have been adopted by now.  Thanks to generous sponsors, every penny of the $10.00 minimum donation for each calendar goes to the care of the rescued horses.  As you think about Holiday gifts, please think about KOTHRR.  We are happy to accept donations in the names of your family and friends (and will send them a lovely certificate) and will also send you as many calendars as you would like!  Please contact me if you would like more information!   Essential Oil Tip for October/November – Marjoram and Muscle Cramps

            Lately, I’ve been having cramps and spasms in my calf muscles.  Could it be from all that walking up at the barn??  I find that massaging on a drop of marjoram essential oil can relieve the spasms and calm those muscles.  I also put it on at night as a preventative.  And when I do, I find I don’t wake up with screaming legs!   October-November Featured Oils – Healthy Traveling

            Since I have been doing a bit of traveling this autumn, I have decided to highlight some of the oils that can be found in my travel kit.   As you can imagine, I carry several oils with me on every trip.  Sometimes I carry LOTS of oils!  If I was limited to just a few, I would take the first six on this list.   Thieves – what can I say – I don’t leave home without it!  Thieves helps the body fight off viruses (research cite available on
request).  On airplanes I sniff it, drink it, and rub it on my feet.   Lavender – I rub this on my pillow to take away the ‘hotel smell’, on my feet and wrists to relax me, and just smell it often – one
of my absolute favorite oils!   Valor – I love to put this on my feet before I go to sleep.  It helps balance my energies, which can get pretty jumbled after a
challenging journey.  It also helps relieve headaches.   Peppermint – I sniff it to clear my head if feeling foggy, put a drop on my tongue (and then drink water) to help clear my
sinuses, put a drop on the back of my neck if I am feeling hot and tired from the stresses of traveling, put a drop or two in water, and drink, to calm an upset stomach if my Di-Gize is not nearby.   Lemon – a drop in a glass of water, helps with purification; a drop or two on a cloth placed over the air vent in a hotel room
makes the room smell clean and lovely.   RC – a wonderful oil blend for relieving sinus congestion – another one I don’t leave home without!
  Di-Gize (formerly knows as Di-Tone) – I keep this on hand in case I feel nauseous or have any upsets in my digestive system.
I rub it on my belly, put some in a capsule and take it, or just put some in a glass of water and drink.   Sacred Mountain – after flying, I put this very grounding oil blend on my feet, ears, and wrists.
  Brain Power – a great blend keeping my brain sharp and clear.  I take this to meetings and smell it often.
  Ginger – can help relieve motion sickness: a drop in water then sip slowly; massage 2-3 drops on the bottoms of the feet;
drop on the end of the tongue; massage a drop behind both ears.   Helichrysum, Melrose, Marjoram – First Aid oils:  I use these to stop bleeding (Helichrysum) and to cleanse and help heal
wounds (Helichrysum and Melrose).  Helichrysum is also helpful for healing those bruises I get from banging suitcases against my legs.  And Marjoram eases the sore muscles I get from sitting in those uncomfortable Coach Class seats on airplanes and from the afore-mentioned suitcase banging! There is more information about several of these oils on this website, including a more detailed article on oils for traveling.      Specials from Young Living
