Marjoram is my favorite essential oil to use in my massage practice.  It is so very good at soothing tense muscles and easing
cramped or spasmed muscles.  Because of these muscle-relaxing tendencies, Marjoram is useful for dealing with headaches caused by tense neck and scalp muscles.   Historically, the Romans used Marjoram for mood elevation, calling it the “herb of happiness”.  The Greeks called it “joy of the mountains”.  They believed it increased longevity and comforted departed souls.  The French use Marjoram for many things, including muscular issues, support for the respiratory system, and toning the nervous system.   In addition to using Marjoram with my massage clients, I use it in self-massage.  I just rub a drop or more on the muscles that are sore, tense, or in spasm.  In a minute or two, I do find that they have relaxed and let go of whatever tension they were holding.  It’s refreshing aroma also helps clear my head and nasal passages.     For more information email Nancy Cebula or call her at 303.499.1607.
